Kyogos Strike Secures Hoops Victory

Celtic Close the Gap on Rangers

Kyogo's Strike Secures Hoops Victory

Celtic have moved eight points clear of Rangers at the top of the Scottish Premiership after a 2-0 victory in the first Old Firm game of the season.

Kyogo Furuhashi scored the only goal of the game in the first half, firing a stunning volley into the net just seconds before half-time. The Japanese striker was played onside by Rangers defender John Souttar, and he made no mistake with his finish.

Celtic dominated the game from start to finish, and they could have scored more goals. Giorgos Giakoumakis hit the post in the first half, and David Turnbull had a shot cleared off the line in the second half.

Rangers had a few chances to get back into the game, but they were unable to find a way past Celtic goalkeeper Joe Hart. The Englishman made a number of good saves, including one from a close-range effort by Alfredo Morelos.

The victory was Celtic's third in their last five away games against Rangers in all competitions. It was also the first time they had beaten Rangers in the league since December 2019.
